Celebrating 50 Years of Caring, Connection, and Community

For 50 years, Woolwich Counselling Centre has been supporting the mental health and well-being of individuals and families across Woolwich Township and surrounding communities.

Our 50th anniversary has been an opportunity to celebrate our history and honour the many people who have shaped our journey, including our clients, volunteers, donors, board members, staff, local businesses, schools, and community partners.

A Night to Remember: 50th Anniversary Gala

On March 27, 2026, we gathered with friends, supporters, sponsors, staff, board members, and community partners to celebrate 50 years of Woolwich Counselling Centre.

It was a warm and memorable evening filled with stories, laughter, gratitude, and connection. We celebrated the people who have been part of our journey and the difference we’ve made together in our community.

Our community showed up in a big way. Together, we surpassed our $50,000 fundraising goal, with more than $16,000 raised through the silent auction to help keep mental health services accessible and affordable.

A heartfelt performance by Great Big Sea’s Séan McCann added to the evening, bringing even more meaning to this special celebration.

Inspiring Youth Through Connection

Youth engagement remained a key priority for us this year, including a special partnership with Elmira District Secondary School (EDSS) to welcome keynote speaker Sam Demma.

Speaking to high school and Grade 7/8 students, Sam encouraged youth to lead with self-kindness, empathy, resilience, and compassion. He reminded students that everyone faces challenges, even when those struggles are not visible, and that small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference.

The presentations sparked thoughtful conversations about mental health, belonging, leadership, and looking out for one another.

Mental Health Awareness Month: Building a Healthier Community

This May – Mental Health Month, we once again launched our Green Ribbon Campaign, partnering with local businesses and organizations to reduce stigma and promote mental wellness.

Our annual Community Celebration at Gore Park was a highlight, welcoming more than 300 community members for a day of connection, celebration, and mental health awareness.

Together, we’re helping build a community where mental health is talked about openly, support is accessible, and no one has to face their challenges alone.

Looking Ahead

As we celebrate 50 years of service, we continue to be committed to providing accessible, high-quality mental health services, strengthening community partnerships, and responding to the evolving needs of those we serve. Thank you for being a part of this special milestone – we look forward to the next five decades of caring, connection and community.
